Introduction
The Old Trafford area of Manchester was inhabited by a small Sunni Muslim community in the early-to-mid Seventies, and in 1977 the Old Trafford Muslim Society was established to cater for the religious and general welfare needs of the local Muslim community. A redundant Co-op shop was purchased and converted to a Masjid and Madrassah and was named Masjid E Noor. This was sufficient at the time; however the number of Muslim moving into Old Trafford increased over the years and also a natural growth of the Muslim community already living in Old Trafford increased. To accommodate the large expansion of Muslim within Old Trafford a new purpose built Masjid was officially opened on Stamford Street in 2005.
Current Position
Having served the local community for the last 30 years, together with Masjid-E-Noor, Madrassah Taleemul Islam has played a central role in providing religious, social and educational facilities for the Muslim Community of Old Trafford and the surrounding areas. Alhamdulillah, with the grace and mercy of Allah Subhanahu Wata'aalaa, we own three properties which are currently being utilised for Madrassah, these are 106 - 108 Stamford Street, the Old Masjid Building and the new Masjid
Madrassah Taleemul Islam
The Madrassah runs five days a week beginning at 4:45pm and ending at 7.15pm. We have approximately 330 children attending from 5 years of age and above. The children are taught according to a carefully planned curriculum, implemented by the teachers.
The progress of the children is also monitored through their work and regular test and twice yearly examinations. Success is achieved through teamwork, not just the teachers but the parents also need to be involved in educating the children.
The Old Masjid building is quite dated, its condition is deteriorating and it is expensive to heat and maintain. The acute space restrictions and deteriorating
condition of the old Masjid building means a redevelopment of the Old Masjid building is long overdue.
In order to comply with Fire, Health & Safety regulations we would need to make some major alterations at considerable costs.
There is also the additional maintenance cost of keeping an older building to a satisfactory standard of repair.
The Project
Alhamdulillah the proposed work has been approved by Trafford Council Building Regulation and we are currently in the process of renovating the 2nd floor in the new Masjid to create 6 further classrooms and also refurbish the Wudhu and Toilet area on the first floor.
Plan have been submitted to convert the Old Masjid Building. On the ground floor there will be the main prayer hall, ablution area and a mortuary. On the first floor there will be 6 class rooms. When completed there will be provision for 120 to 130 students which will allow for 106 -108 to become vacant and realize the potential of yielding a regular income in the form of rent.
The work on the project is to be carried out in three phases. The reason for this is that we do not have the funds to pay for the work all at once and also to accommodate the Madrassah whilst the development work is being carried out.
Phase One -
Planning, Approval and Development of 2nd floor in the Masjid
Phase Two –
Refurbishment and development of the Old Masjid Building
Phase Three –
Refurbishment and conversion of 106-108 Stamford Street
Estimated Cost of project
Phase One
New Wudhu and Toilets Facilities on 1st floor and creating 6 new classes on 2nd Floor - £75,000
Phase Two
Creating 6 classrooms on 2nd floor, Mortuary, Ghusl Area and large hall on ground floor & complete refurbishment of basement - £175,000
Phase Three
Renovate 106 – 108 Stamford Street to create living accommodation for rental purpose. Work will only commence on phase 3 once Phase 1 & 2 will be completed - £ POA
The Appeal

We are proud to announce on previous occasion when question have been asked for financial support, the Muslim community of Old Trafford have very generously offered and stretched their hand in support, Insha'Allah this will be a form of Sadka -e- Jariyaah for your self and your families, and for every child that attains Islamic knowledge and every child that graduates from Hifz you will also reap the rewards until the day of Judgment.
We request that you open your heart once again and join us in this noble cause by Making Dua and Donating generously towards the project.
To complete Phase 1 & 2 we need to raise a total of £250,000 which compared to the number of Muslim we now have in Old Trafford is not a very large sum and without an iota of doubt Allah SWT will reward you immensely in this world and also in the hereafter.
